Beck Defeats Adjustments

TAMPA, FL—South Florida offensive coordinator Tim Beck emerged victorious Saturday from a prolonged confrontation with the possibility of trying something else.
Despite repeated pressure from events occurring directly in front of him, Beck reportedly maintained control of the game plan throughout the afternoon.
“You have to admire that kind of discipline,” said fan Doug Blevins, who spent the third quarter watching through the gaps between his fingers. “A weaker coordinator might have let the defense influence what plays he called.”
The performance impressed officials at the National Museum of Unnecessary Persistence, which requested Beck's play sheet for an exhibit currently consisting of a locked door and a man who has been pushing it since 1987.
“We assumed there would be notes on it,” said curator Helen Drumm. “There aren't. It's in excellent condition.”
According to museum researchers, the offense briefly threatened to adapt during halftime, when an assistant reportedly approached the whiteboard carrying an eraser. The incident was contained before any information could be removed.

Meanwhile, South Florida's defense continued its weekly role of keeping the game close enough for the offensive staff to describe the afternoon as a learning experience.
“I'd love to have a learning experience,” said season-ticket holder Alan Pruitt. “Mine usually cost less and end when I understand what went wrong.”
Pruitt said he had initially blamed the offensive line but reconsidered after realizing the coaches were also allowed to watch it.
“If your front door falls off, you don't spend the next three hours yelling at the thermostat,” he added.
The afternoon also prompted renewed discussion of the coordinator's extensive experience, which supporters cited as proof that he had encountered these problems before.
“That's what worries me,” said Pruitt.
At press time, Beck's game plan had been cleared to return next week after showing no signs of contact with reality.
