TWO LATE DRIVES. 156 YARDS. 14 POINTS.

Michael Van Buren threw for 239 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two more scores. His 38-yard touchdown pass to Joshua Porter on fourth down left 19 seconds on the clock and rescued a 28–24 win. South Florida finished with 369 total yards to Army's 347.
The final gamble paid off. The stalled possessions and first-half clock decisions still deserve scrutiny. Winning does not make every decision a good one.

ONE TOUCHDOWN. 208 YARDS. SAVED BY THREE TURNOVERS.
Before kickoff, Beck said, “I feel like we'll be flawless.” His offense answered with 208 total yards, 100 passing yards, 14 first downs and one touchdown against a team that went 7–6 in Conference USA last year. FIU outgained South Florida 381–208. The Bulls crawled to 3.7 yards per play, hammered out a miserable 2.8 yards per rush and watched their defense produce three turnovers that became 13 of South Florida's 19 points.
The scoreboard says win. The box score says the Beck era opened with an offense that was outgained by 173 yards at home and needed four field goals plus turnover help to escape FIU.
